VIC: Minister accuses ALP of double standards = 2

Mr Hallam said it was ironic that the state opposition had continually opposed government
reforms to WorkCover and "vilified" its staff.

"I'm delighted that the system is seen to work, that the WorkCover Authority (which) has
taken a bit of stick from the opposition is seen to be doing its job," he said.

"I think today's story is that of the double standards we have got involved here, when in
fact an icon of the Victorian Labor Party is now seen to have abused his position as a member
of the Accident Compensation Commission.

"These are the people who are saying, you can trust us, we deserve another ride back at
the controls of the public purse."

A spokesman for the opposition said Halfpenny was not and had never been a member of the
opposition and Mr Hallam's comments showed he was "a goose".

"This matter has absolutely nothing to do with the opposition and it shows how desperate Mr
Hallam is if he's resorting to this ridiculous behaviour in an attempt to defend his failed
WorkCover scheme," he told AAP.
