Fed: ACT paramedics aid NSW firefighters
CANBERRA, Dec 30 AAP - Intensive care paramedics from the ACT drove to the NSW south
coast today to help in the efforts to fight bushfires.
Two paramedics would stay on the south coast for at least 48 hours, the ACT Ambulance
Service said.
ACT Emergency Services Minister Ted Quinlan said he was pleased the territory could
help NSW after it received support from NSW and Victorian fire crews during the Christmas
fires.
"This support does exemplify the cross-border cooperation in times of crisis," Mr Quinlan
said in a statement.
"ACT has helped NSW during past bushfires and severe storms and just this past week
ACT received help from Victorian Country Fire Authority firefighters.
"I am pleased that we can now also assist NSW by way of ambulance support."
